Introduction to Fermentation
Monday 13 January, 4.30 - 6.30pm, Greens and Co, Galway
Most of the best foods and drinks are fermented in some way or another, chocolate, coffee, tea, wine, beer, hot sauce, sauerkraut, miso, soy sauce..... This is a hands on introductory workshop where you will learn a bit about some of the different fermentations that are used to transform food. We will make sauerkraut/kimchi using seasonal veg, (lactofermentation). You will be guided through the process of wine making (yeast ferment) and through vinegar making (yeast ferment then bacterial ferment). There will be samples to try and lots of discussion and troubleshooting. Book tickets here
Greener Living: Home and Body Care Workshop
Saturday 8 February, 10am - 4pm, Rediscovery Centre, Ballymun
This workshop is for people who are looking for alternatives to cleaning products and chemical-laden beauty regimes that are safe, non-toxic and don't come in plastic bottles. It is a practical, hands-on session in which you will learn how to make soap, laundry liquid, limescale solutions, surface cleaners and lotions and potions including body scrub, moisturiser and much more.For more information and booking, visit the Rediscovery Centre website
Frugally Decadent Cooking: Reducing Food Waste
Sunday 23 February, 4.30-6.30pm, Greens and Co, Galway
Have you ever wondered how to reduce the amount of food, citrus peels, and plastic that leaves your kitchen in a bin? This workshop is packed full of ideas to maximise the value you get from everything that you bring into the kitchen. Learn how to use fermentation, cooking and freezing to transform food waste in to something else.
